BROTHERS DIETRICH ONE-TWO IN TRAIL-WAY “358” SPRINTS;

Hanover, PA (8/1/08) –Brotherly love was rampant Friday night at Trail-Way Speedway.

Danny Dietrich was the class of the field in the “358” sprint cars, dominating the 25-lap feature after starting sixth and taking the lead from outside front row starter and race-long leader Billy Heltzel, Jr.

It was the younger Dietrich’s first Trail-Way win of the year.

“These were great conditions,” said Dietrich upon exiting the Racers Used Parts Warehouse/Shellehamer Hay & Straw/Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic #88, “When you make the track two grooves, it makes for great racing.”

Facing rough track conditions, the Trail-Way track crew took the necessary 45 minutes to grade the track.

Dietrich was quick to praise the surface in victory lane. He also had kind words for Trail-Way’s young drivers.

“I need to credit the new drivers for holding their line. They’re really improving.”

Danny’s brother Billy came on late to challenge, grabbed second from fourth-starting Darren Schott on lap 16 and then closing onto Danny’s back bumper following a 23rd-lap caution.

“I saw Bill’s car number come on the board, and I knew I had to hit my marks,” said Dietrich after scoring his third career win at the famed one-third mile oval on the farm.

The brothers Dietrich raced wheel-to-wheel through the turns over the final three laps, but Billy was never able set up to make a race-winning pass.

Point leader Jeff Rohrbaugh came from ninth-starting spot to finish third, with Steve Owings fourth and Brad McClelland completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Dale Hammaker, Schott, Randy Whisler, Heltzel, and Jessie Morrison.

Heats for the 26 “358” sprint cars on hand were won by Whisler, Rohrbaugh, and Dale Hammaker.
